In Tenerife there is the only tree in the world known for its high resistance to fire, even capable of regenerating itself after a fire: the Pino Canario. Accustomed to living among the volcanoes of the islands, the main feature of this tree is its resistance to fire.It has a high adaptation to flames, helps to remove diseased trees from the woods and promotes the germination of new specimens, explains José Ramón Arévalo, researcher at the Department of Ecology of the University of La Laguna (Tenerife).
